Stefan Löfvenius CV

Since 1981 responsible for the guitar department at SMI (Stockholm).

From 2004-2017 also employed at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm where he already during the eighties in periods worked as a guitar teacher.

For 35 years he has worked at the music school of Uppsala and since 1988 he teaches at the music high school GUC in Uppsala.

For many years he has organized, teached at many summer courses, further training days for guitar teachers both in Sweden and many other countries.

Among his teaching abroad you find Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Russia, England, Italy , Finland and Norway.

Between 2007-2015 Stefan was the chairman of the "Swedish Guitar and Lute Society".

Since 2005 he is artistic director of "Uppsala International Guitar festival", a festival which during the years has developed into being one of the important in the world.

2006 he was given the Cultural prize of Uppsala.

2010 Stefan was given the the award ” Royal Music Pedagogic Prize” from the hand of the King of Sweden.

He has become an icon for many guitar teachers in Sweden but also abroad.

Stefan has developed a method for teaching in groups and ensemble where the pupils can be at quite different levels.

His books about guitarplaying, Sjung och spela gitarr, Gitarrmusik 1-3, Folkmusik på gitarr, has gained much attention both in Sweden and abroad. He has a big collection of unpublished material.

Stefan has coorparated with worldknown guitarists as David Tanenbaum, David Russell, Leo Brouwer, Roberto Aussel, Hubert Käppel, Marco Socias, etc.

He has performed more than 100 concerts, solo, in duo (with Analia Rego), in Guitar Quartet (Stockholm Guitar Quartet), Guitar Orchestra and also as a conductor.
